Random thought-Thursday

The best thing about Thursday is that it's almost Friday. But here are some random things I wanted to share. . .

Anyone with a novel completed who doesn't have an agent should know that Penguin is temporarily accepting email submissions for synopses. Read the guidelines carefully (#11 in their FAQ). It's only until October, and it's Penguin UK, but since it's email, that shouldn't matter too much if you're not in the UK.

If you have ever had a cat, you will understand why these cats look so totally pissed off. I think they have reason.

The Washington, DC area seems to be in line for a huge amount of bad weather lately. As you recall, we lost power for a day or so at the end of last month, and then today we had two storms on one day! At least my backyard doesn't look like this.

There is nothing more wonderful than the smell of bacon cooking. And there is nothing worse than the smell of burned bacon, unless it the smell of very expensive farmer's market bacon turning into charcoal. No links on this one until we invent a way to project odors over the web.

My daughter leaves for college on Monday; we will miss her, and not just because she cooks dinner for us once or twice a week (but we will miss that, too!).

Lastly, quick before you miss it, go to Google and check out today's Google doodle, a lovely tribute to the film The Wizard of Oz.

Happy Thursday!

Oh, those poor, poor cats. That's just cruel. Bleh.

I love the smell of bacon, until hours later when the house STILL smells of it. :)

Why do people do that to their pets? Dogs don't seem to mind so much, but cats-- just look a their faces!

two storms . . . jeez, i sure hope OK did not send you our bad weather from the spring. we are just getting pummeled by the heat. it has been 100+ for the past two weeks and there is NO end in sight. blah.

The only good part to the storms is they bring a (temporary) respite from the excessive heat. That's what's really terrible about not having power in August-- no AC.
