So, do they have to pay digital fines?

A recent article in Publisher's Weekly noted that OverDrive, the download management system used by libraries, reported a 73% increase in digital downloads—in effect, a lot more people are "borrowing" e-books.

The one thing I don't get is how the time limit works. Does the file self destruct or something?
