Multi-use vs. really good at one thing

I love my Kindle, and I would not trade it for an iPhone, but I must admit, one thing I wish my Kindle could do is let me work crossword puzzles. That, of course, is the advantage of a multi-use device: it is adaptable. But I recently saw a book displayed on scottedelman's new iPhone and I like my Kindle better for reading books. The iPhone screen is too damn tiny!

Anyway, turns out someone had made a crossword puzzle app for the iPhone. I wonder if scottedelman has tried it?

Addendum, 2011: If anyone stumbles over this, there are now NYT crossword books available on the Kindle.

No, he has not, as he is not a crossword puzzle aficionado.

You don't know what you're missing! Now that Book World is gone, it's the best part of the Sunday paper.

I used to do the New York Times crossword puzzles, but never cared for the ones in the Washington Post. In any case, that was a long time ago, as life hasn't allowed time for me to do such puzzles in at least a decade. How can I justify a puzzle when there are still unwritten stories? And unwritten LiveJournal posts?

Which will now also feed your FaceBook posts! The web was well named. It's like some enormous spider spun a giant web that traps all our time and never lets it go.
