A perfect day

Today was my own personal Mother's Day. We celebrated a week after the rest of the US because last Sunday my daughter wasn't home from college yet, This worked well for all concerned as it freed my son to spend last Sunday with his fiancée and her mother. Also, we could plan dinner out today and know the place would not be packed.

But to start with, we had stuffed French toast for brunch. My husband makes it once a year for me, and it is great! Plus my son and his lovely fiancée brought orange juice and champagne, and we made mimosas. We got out the old video of my son's first and second birthdays; watching them was a hoot and a half. And then the mimosas hit and I took a nap.

When I woke up, I wrote for a while (a novel rewrite that's taking a while but seems to finally be shaping up) and then I took the dog for a walk in the park. We went for dinner to one our favorite places, the perfect ending to a truly wonderful day.
