For me, the convention season won't begin until Balticon on Memorial day weekend. Worldcon (in Denver this year) doesn't start until August, and today is the first day you can book a room at the con rate. There are plenty of hotels, but if you want a room in a particular hotel, it doesn't hurt to book early. The Denvention hotel page has a list of the hotels with notations on each one as to where it is and what code to use in booking a room.

For the Hyatt, the web link didn't want to give me the right rate, but the 888 number worked fine. I'm not positive we're going, but I want to keep my options open.

Yeah, Geoff booked our room today, too. I probably would have let it go so long we would have wound up in a hostel in Boulder.

We're definitely going. I don't think I've missed a Worldcon in twenty years.

(Later) Oh, wrong. Geoff says we missed Lone Star Con 11 and Aussiecon. And also the one in The Hague.

Lone Star was the same year as Mars Pathfinder. Geoff was pretty busy with his Mars experiment and the doings of Soujourner, and I was also more interested in Mars than with cons that year.

Aussiecon was just too much of a hike, I guess. And The Hague, probably economics.

But this year, we're signed up and ready to go --

Great! Well, if we make it, hopefully we'll see you there. Much as I love WFC, I don't plan on trekking all the way to Calgary in November.
