A Song of HBO!

Cool! GalleyCat had a notice that George R.R. Martin's series A Song of Ice and Fire could be coming to HBO. Apparently, HBO has not only bought the rights, they've ordered a pilot to be made. This is good news! Spec fic movies and TV do very well, but a lot of production companies seem reluctant to adapt books. This is a shame, because that is one way mainstream readers can be lured into our spec fic den.

A post on Martin's blog (grrm) says that the pilot will be based on A GAME OF THRONES. He didn't write the script himself, but he sounds happy with it anyway.

A good day for spec fic!
