The handwriting on the wall is digital

GalleyCat reports that Barnes & Noble, the bricks-and-mortar as well as online bookstore chain, has bought Fictionwise, the strictly online, strictly digital book and short-story retailer, and its sister site, eReader.com. Fictionwise has even posted an FAQ on the deal.

So, it looks like at least one print bookseller is hedging its bets in an effort to stay in business in the future. Dare I say (tongue firmly in cheek) that Barnes & Nobler are taking a page out of Amazon's book?
